Gâteau au Yaourt

In France, children typically learn this fun French recipe, gâteau au yaourt. It is a basic cake recipe that includes yogurt. 'Gâteau' means cake and 'Yaourt' means yogurt, so the literally translation is 'yogurt cake.' You measure it with a standard pot of yogurt, so no other measuring tools are needed. It is similar to our pound cake and is a quick favorite dessert.

If your child is currently taking a K-5 Beginner French for Kids Class, this would be a great activity to do while incorporating French vocabulary.

This recipe comes from our French teacher Janet Geerlings.

  • (1) 150g pot of yogurt
