At the Chattanooga School of Language, we teach for proficiency. Our focus is communication in the target language (the language you’re learning). Our teachers use various communicative, comprehension-based instructional strategies to provide our students with an engaging, fun and input-rich learning experience. Read more about the Comprehensible Input (CI) method for language acquisition and what you can expect from a language class with the Chattanooga School of Language.

Advanced Low-Mid is for learners who have spent approximately 720 hours in the language.  Review the Proficiency Guidelines for this level and learn what you can do with language at this level of proficiency in terms of speaking, writing, listening, and reading in real-world situations and non-rehearsed context.

This class builds on the skills acquired at the Novice (Low-High) and Intermediate (Low-High) courses and continues to focus on the acquisition of high frequency words (the most frequently used words in a language), common structures and cognates (if applicable in target language). Students at this level have effective operational proficiency and are able to express themselves and use the language flexibly and efficiently for social, academic and professional purposes.

This class is for individuals who have many hours of experience speaking the language but want to improve their understanding and use of high-level grammatical structures in conversational situations, as well as expand their vocabulary. Recommended for non-native speakers who need to take their proficiency to the next level.

When students reach the advanced levels of proficiency, classes become more customized. Students may take Advanced Low-Mid a few times in order to reach the Advanced High-Superior level, as advancing proficiency at these levels takes more time.

Classes only run when they meet minimum enrollment: Once your class meets minimum enrollment (3 students), then you’ll receive an email from us with information to access your classroom dashboard!
